I can listen to almost anything I want, legally, on the fly, at 320K bitrate. I pay my $10 a month, but if that price doubled it'd still be more than worth it. Spotify is a dream for music lovers (perhaps not audiophiles, but Spotify wasn't designed for them). But the desktop software does not crash my computer daily, like iTunes does. (can't clear the cache on the iPhone without uninstalling, for example). I would like the spotify software to be a little more attractive, perhaps, and there's some things it could be better about. It allows me to discuss them with my FB friends. I actually like that my spotify listens show up on my Facebook. ![]() But they're not as easy as spotify for having everything in my "library" in both places. They're both very good options and can play on my iPhone as well as my desktop - the two places I most listen to music. I have iTunes Match, and I currently also use Amazon cloud player. I figure she'll get paid every time I stream the album, which is extra money for her over what I already paid for the CD. Even though I own it in Lossless, I have been spinning it on Spotify instead. I bought Kellie P's record on CD yesterday. When I like an album or artist enough to buy their record, I still usually listen to it on Spotify. This way, they got paid something from me. And I will probably never listen to the whole record again. I would never, ever buy it (aside from maybe the single "Cruise", but probably not even that). I listened to Florida Georgia Line's record the other day, all the way through. It's a bit better from premium users, which is another reason I pay for my subscription each month.Įven artists I don't like get paid. Yes, a lot of folks complain about how little Spotify pays. ![]() ![]() Already, I have purchased two new albums on CD this week (Kacey Musgraves and the new Kellie Pickler), with a lot of other things now on my wantlist thanks to spotify. And quite a few of them I went on to buy on CD or iTunes. But because I could sample online, I found things I really liked. If I had not had spotify, I would have been stuck with youtube or illegal methods. This summer, I got heavily into punk/grunge/garage rock. I couldn't possibly buy all the music I want to sample, especially when I get into a new-to-me style. Note that any legal streaming service could be substituted here - I have tried and enjoyed the other big players, as well. But I am a music lover, so I thought I would throw out some of my reasons for using Spotify as my main source of music (along with the other ways I legally acquire music). I know the SH forums tend towards the audiophile, and I don't count myself among that group. I am going to see if they will delete it. I created another thread, but there's no need.
